12 Days of Christmas

December 24, 2009

As a creative exercise Brandon Oxendine has been making a graphic for each day of the song ’12 days of Christmas’ – aren’t they fabulous?!  Make sure to check Brandon’s site sometime to see his 12th day.  I know I am waiting in anticipation for tomorrow morning!!

Mid-Century Sofa

For this ‘Christmas Edition’ I decided to dream big and throw out a few items far beyond my budget – Christmas is for wishing isn’t it!  No surprise that the sofa above is green (my favorite color); I also love the wooden base.

Airia Desk

Such a beautifully simple desk!

Granit Collection

Designed by Eva Zeisel and recently released by Design Within Reach – love the little pitchers!

Danish Modern Teak Sideboard

More items made of dark rich wood need to happen in my life!

Saarinen Tulip Side Chair and Eames Molded Plastic Rocker

A few design classics are always necessary – Saarinen and Eames, yes please!

Mid-Century Modern Dresser

Rounding out my danish modern/mid-century love affair – an amazing dresser!

Gift Wrapping

December 23, 2009

This year I spent a bit more time, thought, and effort on gift wrapping.  Usually my gift wrapping creativity involves just wrapping everything with the same snowflake paper and tying them with white ribbons.  I was definitely inspired by these gift wrapping inspirations found over at Style Me Pretty – I am so in love with all these ideas!  I also used the tutorial here to make these little paper boxes for some small gifts I had.  I will be sharing some images of my own wrapping in a post to come, along with some other sights from the holidays, but for now – I can’t wait for my family to open their specially wrapped gifts!

Christmas Table Decorations

December 22, 2009

Seeing as it is Christmas week (!) I thought I might do a bit of browsing for holiday table decorations.  I know my family has a full meal plan this week with lots of yummy food – this year we’re sticking a lot of traditional foods (monkey bread, shrimp, and jello molded trees)  it’s going to be a treat!

Catch-Up

December 18, 2009

A few things I have spotted recently that I haven’t had time to share:

(via Design*Sponge)

Amazing porcelain doilies by Kristen Wicklund - she dips the doilies in the porcelain and then they burn out during the firing process!

How great would it be to have an old Polaroid SX-70 camera!  Watch a wonderfully informative film about these cameras created by Charles and Ray Eames here.

A poster interpreting “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau – love the trees!  Purchase here.

I want a chunky knitted scarf to wrap up in with a hat to match!

Architectural Fantasies

December 15, 2009

I just finished up my first semester working in an architecture model shop.  I definitely still don’t have a handle on what exactly the students were always working on (or AutoCAD for that matter) – but I at least have more familiarity with the field and can say it was fun watching everyone try to make their big ideas fit into such a small model!
