Daily Drop Cap

October 28, 2010

I don’t think I originally posted about this project when it first started since it was on every single blog it seemed – but I was reminded about Jessica Hische’s Daily Drop Cap project and spent some of last night browsing through the beautiful drop caps she’s designed – she tries to design one per work day.  What’s a drop cap you ask?

It’s a fancy letter that is placed at the beginning of a paragraph, usually seen at the beginning of chapters in novels.  The capital letter ‘drops’ down 2 or 3 lines below the initial sentence of the paragraph.  And now the rest is just filler text to make a ‘full paragraph’ so you can see the drop cap cutting into the text.

Nat Youngblood

October 25, 2010

I spent the weekend in Pittsburgh with my family {granparents included} and we found some interesting places and museums to check out during the day Saturday.  At the Fort Pitt Museum they had a gallery of work from the artist Nat Youngblood.  Ignoring the fact that most of the paintings were about the French & Indian war {history is not my MOST favorite subject…} I really liked his style.  Enjoy!

Smock Paper Goods

October 21, 2010

When I found Smock‘s site today – I couldn’t get over the amount of beautiful paper products.  Beautiful colors, patterns, letterpress, and the list goes on.  Plus, they’re based out of Syracuse near my hometown!  Their products are being added to my wishlist for sure.

These ceramic animals from Have you met Miss Jones are absolutely adorable!

Eight Hour Day

October 18, 2010

This morning I am loving the illustrations from Eight Hour Day.  Such a clean and fun illustration style.  The husband and wife duo recently embarked on an inspiration journey across America – living in 10 different cities over the next year.  What an amazing adventure!  Follow their journey here, they’re definitely getting added to my blog roll.

Beautiful knitted items over at homelab – I need to learn some more knitting patterns!

Fall Ensemble

October 14, 2010

Today I was inspired to put together a little fall ensemble.  I browsed around for an outfit and a few accessories - I would say I dress in mostly neutrals with my fun pops of color added in scarves, bags, or jewelry.  Enjoy!

To Find:
sweater, shirt, jeans, boots, scarf, belt, earrings, bag

{all at the decently priced Gap Inc. stores!}
