Borsodi Letters

January 31, 2011

These letters photographed by Bela Borsodi caught my eye this weekend.  If you look carefully it’s a single photo with everything in it composed to make the letters stand out – I can’t imagine the planning for each one!

Snowy Day

January 27, 2011

Snow day in Philly today!  I always think of emmas designblogg as my ‘white inspiration blog’ her posts and images are always very clean and have a lot of white elements.  Perfect for sharing on a snowy day.

Today I’m taking a cake into work to celebrate recent birthdays!  It made me think about adding a cake stand to my kitchen items.  The items from Herriott Grace have been floating around the internet, and for good reason.  Gorgeous wood pieces lovingly created and sold by a father-daughter team – updates to their store are sold out almost instantly.  Which means these pedestal plates are a great item to add to the ‘want‘ files!

Wallace House Design

Loving the style of these designs by Wallace House Design – for paint can labels no less.  Design reaches to every corner of our lives!

I decided this year I want to try and share a bit more of ‘behind the scenes’ what I do and make – first up are some baked goods – spice cake mini cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and sliced kumquats to be exact!  The inspiration for these yummies came from a friends bridal shower I went to in December.  The hostess created pretty much the same thing but with gingerbread cupcakes – so good.  I had a boxed spice cake mix that I figured would create an adequate substitution.  The fact that they’re mini doesn’t hurt either!

Every time I go to a thrift store I am drawn to all the plates, bowls, mugs etc. – I always have to resist scooping up a bunch of eclectic pieces for such great prices.  Juliet at The Broken Plate has found a great reason to grab them all up – she turns them into jewelry.  Each piece is unique and celebrates all the great patterns that can be found on plates.  Love!

Alyssa Ettinger is another designer I can’t believe I haven’t shared yet – combining knitting, ceramics, vintage bottles, and the candle-lit glow, gorgeous!  View her shop here.

Going back to my love of anything wrapped in pretty patterns… I need to try some of this chocolate!  Watch the video to see the amazing story behind these delicious treats from Mast Brothers Chocolate.

Caroline Swift

January 17, 2011

I love how this collection from Caroline Swift came to be – she was photo styling some food images and couldn’t find any plates she liked, so she started making her own!  Made from bone china, her pieces are so delicate and beautiful.
