Video Games in the MoMA

December 5, 2012

Did you see that the MoMA has started to acquire video games for their permanent collection?

“Are video games art? They sure are, but they are also design, and a design approach is what we chose for this new foray into this universe. The games are selected as outstanding examples of interaction design—a field that MoMA has already explored and collected extensively, and one of the most important and oft-discussed expressions of contemporary design creativity. Our criteria, therefore, emphasize not only the visual quality and aesthetic experience of each game, but also the many other aspects—from the elegance of the code to the design of the player’s behavior—that pertain to interaction design.”

After the Jump

May 22, 2012

Have you guys seen the new adventure Grace Bonney (founder of Design*Sponge) has embarked upon? Her latest is a design radio talkshow called After the Jump. Every week she is interviewing different members of the creative community. She started out with some pretty big names; kicking the show off with Todd Oldham and then a few weeks later she had Genevieve Gorder on (can we all admit that Genevieve was our favorite from Trading Spaces, OK… her and Vern). I know I’ve enjoyed listening to them. I catch them over on the Heritage Radio site where they have them available after the live show if you’re interested!

More Self-Creation

November 20, 2011

I came across these words the other day and practically said AMEN out loud! With all the blogs and inspiration sites out there it is very easy to just get caught up in looking at all the amazing things on the internet and be inspired by what other people have done. I’ve been really frustrated for awhile now with my lack of turning that around and being creative in my own life and have needed to change a few priorities now that I’m working again {man 40 hours a week takes a lot of time!}. For these and other reasons I am suspending my blogging until at least the new year. I’m definitely sad to be ‘giving it up’, especially because I really do have so many inspiring things to share, but I know it’s the right thing for now. It’s amazing how it’s already made the internet fun for me again! Instead of looking at everything as a potential post idea I just get to look and be inspired for my own life. I’ll still be pinning and I’m hoping to turn a lot more focus to my etsy shop but that might also have to wait until after the holidays since I have a few projects up my sleeve for Christmas time.

I challenge everyone to get out there and be creative!

Rifle Paper Co. Cards

November 3, 2011

I guess yesterday’s ‘want’ post should have been titled ‘want more’ since I recently did purchase some cards from Rifle Paper Co. which I love dearly. You should send me something so I can send you a beautiful thank you card!

This Month {October}

October 4, 2011

What this month looks like:
1. Did you know that October is this blog’s birthday? 2 years in fact! Maybe I should throw a party like this one at the Sweetest Occasion, perhaps?
2. In a few weeks I’m going to be driving into California for the first time and having a girls weekend in San Diego – can’t wait!
3. It is turning fall and this year it seems like that calls for flannel, like this option from Burton.
4. Maybe I will make some yummy caramel apples, or 5. do a fall leaf craft project?
6. Hopefully I will find a pumpkin patch as cute as this one from Sara Lee Parker and carve a pumpkin this month too.

What does your month look like?

Calming Green

April 25, 2011

It’s been a long day today {starting at 5am!} so these pieces by Matthew Rich are a nice calming green to end the day with.

Summertime Swim

March 22, 2011

Looking ahead towards summer may seem a bit premature since it is just starting to feel like spring, but today I am back to work after a trip to Phoenix where spring there feels like summer here!  I have always had an appreciation for painters and fine artists and their ability to capture life in mediums I could only dream of mastering.  These paintings by Samantha French are no exception.  Seeing them, I could just feel myself swimming in a pool – I love the underwater perspectives!

This Month {March}

March 1, 2011

I’m pretty optomistic about this new month – bring on spring!  There are so many things happening it seems.

For March:
Let’s start out with a shout-out for all the birthdays happening this month.  There are several people in my life that were born in March – to celebrate pick up a Paul Ferney cake painting [3].

I wouldn’t want anyone to forget daylight savings time – don’t forget to set your alarm clock [4] and ‘spring’ ahead!

I am so excited for the middle of the month where I will be taking another roadtrip out to Phoenix.  This ‘Let’s Get Lost‘ print [5] describes the adventures I hope to have {well… let’s try not to get too lost }

Our roadtrip ends on the Day ‘o the Irish – St. Patrick’s Day!  Throw on some green with this vintage scarf [2] or just put this Clover Field print [6] up on your wall.

And last but not least – spring is coming!  Spruce up your wardrobe with a spring flower pin [1] from EmersonMade.

Etsy {Friday} : Poster Love

February 4, 2011

Sometimes {well most times} I need a bit of a kick in the morning; this O Happy Day poster I think would do the trick!  And being a renter, I can definitely relate to the tongue-in-cheek play on home sweet home with this affordable Rental Sweet Rental print.

Patterned Soaps

January 18, 2011

Wrap anything in pretty patterns and I’m sold!  Little soaps from the French shop Cocobohème.

Roadtrip!

December 28, 2010

Things have been pretty quite on here as of late, what with the festivities of Christmas and all :) – it’s been great spending time with family!  I’m planning on keeping things pretty low key until the 10th or so since I’m going on a ROADTRIP!  I’m planning on driving the ‘southern route’ out to Phoenix, AZ with my best friend – we’re planning on spending New Years Eve on the road, see the Narnia movie somewhere, and hopefully make lots of memories and see some amazing roadside sites along the way.
